The coveted Monolo Blahnik "Something Blue" satin pumps. Did you know that Mr. Blahnik (as I like to call him) custom made these shoes for Ms. Bradshaw to wear for her starring role in the Sex and the City movie? Now these beauties are available for us all to shine in - along with plenty of imitations and knock-offs at greatly reduced prices from the original.
I wanted to be sure these were the only blue shoes that would capture my fancy so of course I continued the search. Maybe this blue was too bright and I should go with something in navy to match our wedding colors.

The rosette on this Kate Spade shoe is too cute, but at over $300, this one was out of the budget.

The color of this Calvin Klein was perfect and I like the touch of bling, but I've never been an ankle strap shoe kind of girl. At only 5'2", an ankle strap was usually a fashion no no and a good way to make my legs look stumpy. I realize my legs will be covered by my dress, but still, the ankle strap was out.

The Nina Elke was a top contender. The color was great, the bow adorable and the crystal embellishment added the perfect amount of sparkle.

The Me Too Jeanette comes in the same bright blue color as the Monolo's, but the heel height would be very comfortable and I love the bow! These were in the running as well.
There was just one problem with all of this blue goodness. I had failed to ask myself "Am I a colored shoe bride?!" All of the gorgeous colored bridal shoe porn out there had really done a number on me. Pictures of brides with that pop of color under their dresses made me swoon. But was I that kind of bride?
I knew I'd be changing into different shoes for the reception so I only needed these for the ceremony. With the length of my dress, no one was even going to see these shoes unless I purposefully showed them off. And then a thought started to sink in. My bridal look for the day is a lot more traditional than what I originally assumed I would end up with. Maybe this colored shoe thing really wasn't for me.
Did you hop on the colored shoe wagon?
